Project Description

Governance for Community Groups

Introduction to management online training

Summary of course: There are over 164,000 registered charities in England and Wales, each one requiring a committee. Good governance is essential for all voluntary or community organisations, ensuring that legal requirements are met and to provide the organisation with direction and focus.

This course is aimed at current and potential committee members/trustees within the voluntary and community sector.   The skills and understanding developed will ensure your board functions effectively and efficiently.

A review from one of our learners:

I am a trustee for a few charities and often find myself advising potential trustees on their responsibilities.  I did this course to as I wanted to find something suitable to signpost others to. The course was over several lessons and each lesson looked at a different part of what it takes to be a good committee. I found it really simple to learn in this way as I like structure. The topics were very logical and really helped me to refresh but I also feel confident to send others on this course as it covers the key areas providing a solid basis for those thinking of joining a management committee.
